Random Thoughts on Greenlight by Matthew McConaughey

Greenlight by Matthew McConaughey. Seeking to laugh louder, hug tighter, and live fuller.

His story is wild yet inspiring. He was honest, true to himself, and true to his actions. He did not seek out the craziness in the earlier part of this life; he did later.

He took a break from acting when he felt he needed it. The break gave him clarity, he said.

Do I need a break from this hamster wheel that I am currently on? I have good things going right now.

He did not write much about other women in his life other than his wife. He simply said he had been with many wonderful women and that making love was part of his life in the Chateau, Hollywood. I wish I knew how he was thinking about it at that time.

When he was out of jobs, he told his director friend to get him an agent. His agent said no because he would smell like desperation. The more people smell desperation, the less they want you. Instead, he asked him to go on a month-long motorbike ride in Europe and he did.

I did not quite get his “greenlight concept”. I assume it just means that when you see opportunities, you go for them.

He had some crazy experiences traveling to South America and Africa. I should start doing that.

It inspired me to live life fuller, go off the beaten path more, be more authentic, and bolder.
